Results: Saturday’s Part I of the global trilogy comprising A Monumental Collection from the Cellars of a Connoisseur exceeded the pre-sale high estimate, achieving $1,886,918, with an impressive 96% of lots sold. Feverish bidding led to exceptional prices, with over 40% of lots sold above the high estimate and 60% of lots sold to bidders outside North America. Part II will be in London on Wednesday and Part III in Hong Kong on Saturday.
Auction Details: On 25 March, Sotheby’s New York is privileged to host Part I in a trilogy of sales of A Monumental Collection, From the Cellars of a Connoisseur. The sale features incredible selections from the world’s greatest producers including a full case of 1990 Musigny from Domaine Leroy, thirty lots of Domaine Armand Rousseau, four vintages of Ermitage, Cuvée Cathelin from JL Chave and an astonishing eighty-four lots of Masseto. The sale is 343 lots and has a pre-sale estimate of $1.2 million. This sale will be followed by Part II in London on 29 March and Part III in Hong Kong on 1 April.
