Sotheby’s is pleased to announce Finest & Rarest Wines featuring a Distinguished Cellar benefitting Instituto Solidare, an auction of limited sellers on 21 October in New York. Just shy of 300 lots, this compact sale nevertheless packs a real punch, with five collectors offering rarities in highly collectible quantities. A Distinguished Cellar benefitting Instituto Solidare (lots 1-155) opens the auction with sixty lots of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, including over 100 bottles of La Tâche and four vintages of Romanée-Conti. The proceeds from the sale of this collection will benefit Brazilian charity foundation Instituto Solidare, which focuses its activity on providing access to education, culture and healthcare for all children.
Pristine Rarities from a Manhattan Collector (lots 156-205) provides 50 lots of blue chip wines, virtually all in original packaging and much of it banded prior to inspection by Sotheby’s, while a Thoughtful Selection of Old World Wines (lots 206-214) boasts case quantities from a connoisseur with a taste for classic winemaking styles. Rounding out the sale are a selection of Mature Wines From a Discerning Collector (lots 215-264), offering bidders a chance to obtain perfectly stored Bordeaux, Burgundy, Piedmont and Champagne from the best vintages of the 1980s; and Superlative Bordeaux and Burgundy (lots 265-293), including absolutely gorgeous bottles of Vosne Romanée Cros Parantoux Emmanuel Rouget 2001 and 2002 lying in original packaging.
