Sotheby’s Contemporary Curated sale curated by Michael Clark achieved an outstanding total of £2.1 million with 52% of the lots offered selling within or above their pre-sale estimates. The sale was led by Yoshitomo Nara’s Abandoned Puppy, Waiting from 1996 which sold for £200,000, four times its low estimate. Other highlights included our cover lot, Oscar Murillo’s Untitled (Drawing off the Wall) from 2011, which sold for £143,750 and our back cover, Günther Förg’s Untitled which sold for £168,750.
This year’s first London edition of Contemporary Curated brings an exciting collaboration with London-based choreographer Michael Clark. Currently working as the Barbican’s Artistic Associate, Clark’s continuous collaboration with artists both on and off stage throughout his career will provide an engaging opportunity to look at the artworks offered in the auction, which will take place on 12 April 2017.
As part of this upcoming auction, we are offering a selection of works by established artists such as Alighiero Boetti, Karel Appel and Tom Wesselmann alongside those by emerging but already acclaimed talents such as Anne Collier and Josephine Pryde.
