The Boundless: Contemporary Art auction in Hong Kong concluded yesterday with a strong total of HK$52.8 million / US$6.8 million, marking the highest-ever total achieved in the auction series. The top lot of the sale, a complete set of twenty-four Picasso silver plates, fetched HK$19.88 million / US$2.5 million in its auction debut.
The Boundless sale series has built a reputation for its distinctive selection of genre crossing modern and contemporary art and classic 20th century design from both Asia and the west. Boundless is also known for progressively expanding the range of artists offered at auction in Hong Kong in tune with art market trends. Featured works in the June session include iconic charcoal drawings by legendary American painter and sculptor Robert Longo and a sculpture by American conceptual artist Sherrie Levine, among other works.
