This sale in Hong Kong on 3 December achieved a total of HK$15,965,000/US$2,047,000, with many of lots selling for multiples over the pre-sale estimates.
An outstanding Imperial reign-marked vessel, a Yongzheng jue, dated 1730 fetched HK$3,320,000/US$456,000, significantly above the estimate of HK$800,000/US$103,000 and a bronze alms bowl incense burner from Late Ming/Early Qing dynasty performed extremely well bringing HK$2,960,000/US$380,000, nearly 20 times the high estimate of HK$150,000/US$19,000.
AUCTION DETAILS
Collected over fifty years, this scholarly collection includes incense burners, archaistic vessels, water droppers, hand warmers and religious figures. It is highlighted by two outstanding Imperial reign-marked vessels, a Yongzheng jue, dated 1730 and a Qianlong lian, both ranking alongside the greatest examples from the Qing court collection preserved in Beijing and Taipei.
