Our 22 May sale brought $892,000. Leading the auction was a case etched and partially gold-washed Springfield Arms Co., Navy Model Revolver which brought $62,500. Also performing strongly was a cased Massachusetts Arms Co. Belt Model Revolver, competitive interest drove the price to $25,000 - over double the high estimate.
Sotheby’s together with Greg Martin and Associates is delighted to announce the sale of this fine collection of firearms comprised of superb Civil War-era carbines and an impressive array of American Percussion revolvers. The revolvers in particular are a testament of mid-19th century American craftsmanship and encompass an array of innovations and mechanical design.
