Sotheby's Important Watches sale in Geneva was met with strong enthusiasm, realising a total of CHF 10,938,000 - the highest total ever achieved in this category. Highlights of the auction included a unique Breguet Pocket Watch of Sir Richard Wallace, which sold for CHF 1,025,000 and a unique version of the Big Pilot's Watch Perpetual Calendar Edition "Le Petit Prince" (reference IW502801) in platinum with a midnight blue dial by IWC, which surpassed its pre-sale expectation, selling for CHF 173,000. All proceeds from the sale of this lot will contribute to the building of a school in Cambodia.

Sotheby’s Important Watches auction this November promises to cultivate enthusiastic interest from collectors with a diverse set of offerings across many categories, from vintage to modern wristwatches, as well as historical timepiece and personal documents from Breguet. Leading the sale is a rare Patek Philippe, Reference 1518, 18-karat yellow gold perpetual calendar chronograph wristwatch with moon-phases, circa 1948.

Another highlight will be IWC’s Big Pilot’s Watch Perpetual Calendar, Edition “Le Petit Prince,” made in memory of the legendary pilot and writer Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. This unique piece also marks the 70th anniversary of his bestselling novel The Little Prince. Proceeds from the sale will benefit the Antoine de Saint-Exupéry Youth Foundation.
