The sales of A Magnificent Bordeaux Cellar and Important Burgundy and Bordeaux From A Private Cellar on 5 October 2013 achieved HK$25.4 million/US$3.3 million (Estimate HK$14–20 million/US$1.8–2.6 million*) and HK$50.5 million/US$6.5 million (HK$29–40 million/US$3.7–5.2 million) respectively. Both of the two single-owner wine sales were 100% sold.
A feature of the two sales was important parcels of great Bordeaux wines, highlighted by 40 lots of 12-bottle cases of Château Haut-Brion 1989 purchased by a single buyer for $7,350,000/US$942,000, well in excess of the high estimate of HK$5,600,000/US$718,000.
This is an extraordinary collection of the best Burgundy and Bordeaux, in addition to Champagne, Italian and Australian wines, with important quantities of mature wines which are rarely seen. A total of about 450 lots with estimates HKD 30,000,000 - 40,000,000 (USD 3.8 - 5 million) will be offered. There is an attractive line-up of the most sought after Burgundies such as DRC Romanée-Conti and La Tâche, Henri Jayer’s Cros Parantoux and Domaine Leroy’s Musigny and Richebourg. For top class Bordeaux, there are 45 cases of Haut Brion 1989, 16 cases of Mouton 1982, 14 cases of Latour 1990, 9 cases of Cheval Blanc 1990, 9 cases of Cheval Blanc 1982. Other rare Bordeaux such as Le Pin and Lafleur are also available in multiple vintages.
