Hong Kong opened its five-day Autumn Sale Series 2013 with the ex-cellar sale of Domaine Clarence Dillon: Château Haut-Brion – Château Quintus – Château La Mission Haut-Brion - Wines Direct from the Cellars. The sale fetched a total of HK$18.5 million / US$2.4 million, exceeding the pre-sale estimate (Est. HK$11 - 16 million / US$1.4 – 2.1 million*). The sale was 96% sold by lot and 99% sold by value.
Sotheby’s Hong Kong is thrilled to announce the important sale of Domaine Clarence Dillon: Château Haut-Brion - Château Quintus - Château La Mission Haut-Brion - Wines Direct from the Cellars to be held on 4 October in Hong Kong which marks the beginning of its 2013 Autumn Sale Series. This is the very first time that Domaine Clarence Dillon offers treasures direct from their cellars through an auction in Asia. Over 500 lots from 1891 to 2012 – which have never left the Châteaux – will be offered for sale. The auction is expected to fetch HK$11 – 16 million / US$1.4 – 2 million.
The last time Domaine Clarence Dillon opened their cellars was at Sotheby’s New York in 2004, where North and South American private collectors enthusiastically bid for wines that were in perfect condition. This exclusive sale gives Asian collectors a unique opportunity to acquire some of the best and rarest vintages, all with perfect provenance, coming direct from the cellars of these three top Châteaux. All wines on offer have been stored perfectly before being shipped to Hong Kong via dedicated temperature-controlled ocean freight.
