Fine Jewels And Jadeite brought HK$75.7 million / US$9.7 million (Est. In Excess Of HK$58 Million / US$7.4 Million*). The sale was well attended with clients from Asia and around the world participating with great enthusiasm, resulting in a high sold rate of 95.2% (by lot). The sale marks the end of a very successful year which saw a 118.28-carat D-Flawless white diamond set the World Record For Any White Diamond At Auction in early October. Sotheby’s is also delighted to help the underprivileged by supporting and contributing to Chi Heng Foundation through a Charity Session in which 17 donated lots were sold to provide education for AIDS orphans.
Fine Timepieces brought HK$26.17 million / US$3.35 million (Est. In Excess Of HK$23 million / US$3 million*), which brought the 2013 total for auctions of timepieces in Asia to an astounding HK$458.7 million / US$58.8 million, the Highest-Ever Annual Total For The Category In Asia and more than doubling the annual total for 2012 (HK$220.5 million / US$28.3 million). The spectacular results achieved this year testify to Sotheby’s dominance in Asia, which is attributed to the ability to offer rare and fresh pieces in excellent condition that engage fierce competition from around Asia and worldwide and attract new buyers that contribute to the remarkable growth.

This December, Sotheby’s Hong Kong is honoured to host its first inaugural mid-season jewellery sale. In addition to a delightful selection of signed pieces and jadeite, highlights include an exceptional Colombian emerald ring with no oil enhancement weighing 15.22 carats, a D colour, Flawless, Type IIA heart-shaped diamond weighing 10.32 carat, and various fine white and fancy coloured diamonds, gemstones and natural pearls. The sale will also include a beautiful collection of Tiffany & Co. jewellery from a prominent American collection featuring designs from the Legacy Collection, and a session of interesting jewels and watches sold in aid of Chi Heng Foundation, a registered charity in Hong Kong which provides assistance to children orphaned by AIDS.
