Highlights from the 4 October sale of Impressionist & Modern Art, including Russian Art included a record price for Swiss-American Surrealist Kurt Seligmann with his 1940-1941 work La Ronde (The Round Dance), which achieved $200,500, five times the high estimate of $40,000. Another work by Seligmann, The Clemency of Alexander, sold for $104,500, more than three times its high estimate of $30,000, the third highest auction price for the artist. Four works by French Expressionist Bernard Buffet all sold above their high estimates.
