The Russian Paintings Day sale on November 29th features an paintings and drawings from the 18th to the 20th century and will include a section dedicated to the work of Non-conformist and Contemporary Russian artists.
Superb examples of early 19th century painting include rare portraits of Catherine the Great, and extremely fine works by Bogdan Villevalde and Georg Timm. We are delighted to be offering a lovely group of avant-garde ballet designs, including works by Meller and Chekhonin, and interesting 20th century pieces by Tchelitchew, Yakovlev, Nivinsky and Vinogradov. Our Non-Conformist section features a dramatic, almost luminous 1987 work by Shvartsman, a large Tselkov and one of the finest views of Moscow by Vasily Sitnikov to come to the market in recent years. In addition we are proud to include work by contemporary graphic artists and important sculptures by Boris Orlov and Igor Chelkovsky.
