Overview

OVERVIEW

NEW YORK, 13 December 2011: Today at Sotheby’s Fine Books & Manuscripts sale brought an outstanding total of US$7.4 million. The founding contract of the Apple Corporation is the first chapter in the story of one of America’s most important companies. Collectors recognized the importance of this piece of technological, corporate and social history sending the price to US$1.6 million – many multiples of the US$100,000-150,000 estimates. In addition there were exceptional prices across the different areas of the sale, with the historical documents led by a George Washington letter sent to the House of Representatives in May 1789 which sold for US$362,500.
