OVERVIEW
The 9th of March Contemporary Auction includes carefully selected works by artists from the Post-War period through the present day. The sale covers a range of movements from Abstract Expressionism through Pop, Minimalism, Conceptualism and Contemporary Photography and also features work by some of today's most interesting younger artists.
Highlights of the sale include Andy Warhol's black and white 1985-86 Work Boots, Glenn Ligon's 1994 masterpiece White #12, a monumental Piero Dorazio painting from 1968 titled Come Mi Pare and Sarah Morris' 1997 painting GIRLS. The first session of the sale features works by Shazia Sikander, Chris Offili, Robert Longo, Martin Kippenberger and Jeff Koons. The second session features Post-War works by Willem de Kooning, Alexander Calder, Jim Dine, Victor Vasarely and Sam Francis. Of particular note is a 1974 historical painting by the celebrated artist Robert Colescott as well as a remarkable 1967-1968 vacuum formed Plexiglas sculpture by Los Angeles Minimalist, Craig Kauffman. The sale also includes works by Maurizio Cattelan, Cindy Sherman, Richard Serra, David Smith, Zhang Huan.
