We are pleased to present a selection of Old Master Paintings to be sold in New York on Thursday, 3 June at 10:00am, in particular a collection from the Fresno Metropolitan Museum of Art & Science, which includes a large group of trompe l'oeil still lifes.
Additionally on view during our exhibition will be highlights from the 11 June New York Antiquities sale and as well as highlights from the London July Old Master & Early British Paintings sale. The Antiquities sale includes some outstanding Roman marble sculptures: a newly rediscovered Laocoon-like group of three marble fauns, once in the fabled collection of Lorenzo de' Medici, as well as a hauntingly beautiful head of Athena wearing a tall Corinthian helmet. The London Old Masters sale features great works by artists Pieter Brueghel the Younger, Hendrick ter Brugghen, Frans Hals, Jan Lievens, and Barent van Orley. Lastly, please let us draw your attention to the small selection of Old Masters that will be sold in Charlottesville, Virginia as part of the Albemarle House sale of the Collection of Patricia Kluge on 8 and 9 June. The offering includes a beautiful pair of paintings by Hubert Robert illustrated in the back of this catalogue.
