The spring sale of Magnificent Jewels and Noble Jewels in Geneva on May 11th combines exceptional diamonds and coloured stones and glamorous signed pieces by the most famous International Houses, with important jewels of Royal and aristocratic provenance.
The sale is led by three exceptional diamonds: a spectacular, and highly important, 52.82 carat D colour, flawless, type IIa emerald-cut diamond - an exceptional gemstone; a superb 'Toi et Moi' ring by Alexandre Reza featuring an extremely rare 5.02 carat pear-shaped fancy vivid blue diamond alongside a perfectly matched D colour, internally flawless stone; and finally a very rare fancy intense blue cushion-shaped diamond of 7.64 carats.
Among the exceptional coloured stones is a fine Burmese ruby ring of 12.46 carats, an attractive Kashmir sapphire ring of 14.15 carats, and an important Colombian emerald ring weighing 14.35 carats.
Jewels of Noble provenance are sparkling fragments of our social and cultural heritage which continue to resonate today. In this section are spectacular jewels from the collections of H.S.H. Prince Carlo della Torre e Tasso, formerly belonging to Grand Duchess Olga of Russia (later Queen of Greece), Princess Marie Bonaparte and Princess Eugenie of Greece and Denmark. Other highlights come from the Collection of an Italian Noble Family: a magnificent diamond riviere by Chiappe and an elegant pearl and diamond necklace, from the 1890's.
The sale also includes a group of fine jewels from the collections of Dona Lily Marinho, regarded as the first Lady of Brazil, and the Italian opera singer Antonietta Stella.
