Overview

OVERVIEW

We are pleased to announce that we shall be offering a rare gold automatic George Daniels wristwatch in our forthcoming London sale. The Millennium wristwatches were made by Daniels in a limited series to mark the start of the new millennium.

Dr. George Daniels is recognised as one of the greatest watchmakers of the 20th century. In 1981 he received an MBE for his services to horology, and more recently a CBE - the first watchmaker ever to receive such an honour. The Millennium wristwatch is joined by a masterpiece from another horological innovator from 300 years ago. William Harrison was the son of John Harrison, the inventor of the marine chronometer that solved the problem of establishing the longitude of a ship at sea. The pair cased verge watch in this sale is highly unusual, with key features similar to his father's famous watch 'H4' and this example represents one of only five known timekeepers to posses the components invented by John Harrison. There will also be a wide array of wristwatches by the most prominent manufactures including Rolex, Patek Philippe, Cartier, IWC, Vacheron Constantin and Girard Perregaux.
