Our 19th May auction of Fine 20th Century Design comprises over 130 selected works celebrating the best of design from the late 19th Century through to the present day. Selected furniture, glass, ceramics, sculpture and works of art from the Art Nouveau, Art Deco, mid century and contemporary periods are on offer and the highlights include a rare cast iron 'Boreas' chair and hallstand designed by Christopher Dresser for Coalbrookdale, an important pair of Art Deco consoles designed by Süe et Mare and several pieces by Ron Arad, including the sleek 'Blo-Void 1' chair, shown on the front cover of the catalogue and illustrated here. There are also several private collections in the auction, including Art Nouveau and Art Deco from an Important European Private collection, mid century Italian design from an Italian Private Collection and also mixed 20th century works from a Lady of Title.
We are also delighted to offer a single owner collection of Art Deco bronze and ivory figures (lots151-198), which will be offered immediately following the Fine 20 Century Design sale. Chiparus and Ferdinand Preiss, as well as many examples by other leading Art Deco sculptors.
