Ms Wen Guihua is a Senior Consultant for Sotheby’s in Asia, responsible for developing the strategic expansion of the Company’s business in China.
Previous to this role, Ms Wen was with Beijing Hanhai Auction Co. Ltd. from 1993 to 2010. She joined this firm at a time when the auction industry in China was just beginning to take off and is thus a pioneer in the field. Ms Wen played various key roles with the firm including assuming leadership from 2005 to 2010, and was instrumental in branding the company, diversifying and elevating the professional profile of its businesses, as well as developing the firm’s global sourcing strategy.
Ms Wen is well-known and highly respected in the art and auction scene in China, specialising in cultural relics since 1971. She has been the deputy director of the Art Professional Committee, a subsidiary of China Association of Auctioneers, and the head of Beijing Association of Auctioneers for more than ten years, and continues to serve in this role. She is also a recognised national specialist in relics and museology.
