Sotheby’s S|2 is pleased to announce S|2 x SF, an exhibition in San Francisco of three young and emerging contemporary artists. This exhibition features new paintings by Martine Poppe, Jeremy Everett and William Bradley and highlights each of their unique approaches to painting. From scientific experimentation to analogical techniques to digital systems, these international artists work in a diverse range of mediums and practices that exemplify the evolving trajectory of contemporary painting. Each of these artists have their own distinct processes: Poppe alters perspective in her painting through a meticulous system of layering, Everett’s canvases are colored through their interaction with smoke and Bradley utilizes a computer program in the early phases of his paintings. Through the work of these three artists, this exhibition samples the current generation of contemporary artists and its innovative modes of painting.
Although these artists are based primarily outside the United States, the group of paintings in this exhibition were all created this year while the three artists were living and working in Los Angeles. There is an inherent connection between the works in this exhibition that can be traced to their genesis in Los Angeles. There is an ethereal lightness that comes through in each of the artists’ work that feels rooted in a West Coast aesthetic. S|2 is proud to exhibit these artists for their first time in San Francisco. Monday - Friday 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM
