With a total of €1.6 million and nearly 60% of the lots sold above their high estimate, the third edition of the Now sale was a complete success. There has been a 136% increase in total online bidders versus 2016 and a 88% increase in paddle-registration since the first edition in 2015.
This sale, which generates real enthusiasm among collectors and attracts nearly 40% of new buyers, has successfully found its audience. This year, the exhibition curated by The Socialite Family attracted over 1,200 happy visitors.
Sotheby’s is pleased to announce the next instalment of our annual NOW! sale. The sale is dedicated to modern and contemporary art, and will feature an eclectic selection of paintings, sculptures, photographs and objets d’art from the 1930s to the present day, well suited to charming and sophisticated interiors.
The collection aims to create a dialogue between the innovative group of objects, encouraging an emotional response from the viewer. Works by Olafur Eliasson, Arne Jacobsen, César, Andy Warhol, Tetsumi Kudo, Charlotte Perriand or Paolo Roversi will be offered, and the variety of contemporary works will appeal to collectors and newcomers alike. With estimates between €300 and €50,000, the objects in this sale will find a home in any contemporary interior.
This year, the auction will be guest-curated by The Socialite Family, the reference medium created by Constance Gennari and dedicated to interior decoration for contemporary families, which will present its top picks from the sale.
Last year’s edition of NOW! was an absolute success: about 400 bidders participated, 70% of whom were international buyers and 40% were new clients to Sotheby’s.
